Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
Within our work on SRHR, women's and girls' health is of particular concern. That is because pregnancy, giving birth, and (if necessary) interrupting unwanted pregnancies, have a large impact on women’s health.
Annabel (24) is a cultural anthropologist studying a master’s degree in Global Health at the VU University Amsterdam. She spent three months on the island of Flores to conduct research for Simavi on menstrual hygiene management (MHM) amongst women in rural areas of Indonesia. What opportunities does she see to improve the situation?
Joost van Engen (41) is co-founder of Healthy Entrepreneurs, a social enterprise focused on business development with a social impact. They aim to distribute proven, reliable health and impact products as well as health information to enhance the health and quality of life of people in the developing world. Together with Simavi, they will establish an innovative business model in Uganda: Healthy Business, Healthy Lives.
Lambert Grijns is the Dutch Ambassador for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) & HIV/AIDS and Director of the Social Development Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We talked to him about his motivation and achievements as well as his ambitions and the challenges he sees.
